The perks of using SIP were highlighted in a recent report by Smart Business Network Online, which noted that the cost savings associated with the technology are often among the most noticeable and appreciated benefits.

Mobile, VoIP services invite monumental telecom changes

The telecommunications industry has been changing during the past several years thanks to several disrupting factors, including the proliferation of smartphones and tablets, as well as the introduction of VoIP services. These trends were highlighted in a recent study of U.S. wholesale voice buyers by research firm Atlantic-ACM, which found the traditional land line telephony is likely taking its finally gasps of air.

The survey found there are three major factors impacting today’s telecom industry, with the death of the land line being perhaps the most significant. Approximately 74 percent of respondents said the ongoing demise of the legacy phone system is having a major impact on the private sector. Although there are a number of factors contributing to this occurrence, the adoption of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) programs and other mobile initiatives is one of the most influential components.
